Welcome to Ten Words of Wisdom, the place where a picture is worth a thousand words, so you get... um, one percent of the picture.

–Cary Huang, creator

Ten Words of Wisdom, also abbreviated as 'TWOW', is a YouTube camp which tests contestants' ability to come up with a short, relevant and creative response that fits in with a particular prompt. Labelled as BAGUETTE's reboot, the series began with a staggering 491 contestants. The first episode, TWOW 0A, was released on December 12, 2015.

Format

Each episode is split into two parts, part A and part B. At the end of each 'B' portion, Cary gives the contestants a prompt, e.g. 'Most uplifting story' which they must respond to in ten words or fewer through YouTube's PM system by a given deadline. If Cary does not receive a contestant's response in time, that contestant is automatically eliminated (unless, for example, the PM was not received due to a bug). In the following 'A' portion, Cary displays the responses anonymously and everyone ranks them from best to worst according to how well they address the prompt and how creative or funny they are. In the interim between the 'A' and 'B' parts of the episode, Cary tallies the votes and reveals who wrote each response in the 'B' portion episode, along with how well everyone did. The bottom 20% of the remaining contestants are eliminated and the top 10 entries (top 3 after TWOW 10) receive a prize that helps them in future gameplay (for example, getting to submit two responses next episode and only the better one of the two counting). Cary then gives the remaining contestants another prompt and the cycle repeats.

Voting

In every 'A' portion, there is a green rectangle at the bottom of the screen which indicates when the voting portion of the video will be, when the red dot of the video timer reaches the rectangle the video starts going through the entries at about 300 per second, 10 on each frame. Viewers pause on a random place in the rectangle and ends up with 10 randomly selected entries, each labelled A-J, with a random 3 to 6 letter English keyword in the corner. Each entry has a word count in blue next to it. Note: If an entry has slashes in it but they don't count towards the word count, this usually indicates a new line, as shown in the example below.

To vote, viewers type the keyword into the comments, add a space and then rank the entries from best to worst using the letters corresponding to them. The last step is to surround the vote in square brackets, which validates the vote. some people make sentences using the word indicating when they randomly paused, and sometimes even in the letters indicating which entries they are voting for, often ending in humorous results. you don't HAVE to do this, however.

Viewers are able to put anything else in their vote or even vote more than once, although this means that their voting power is spread across all of their votes.

Average percentiles

Contestants' average percentile is calculated by figuring out how many opponents you beat in each vote. For example, if a viewer ranked your response third, that means that you beat 7/9 of your opponents, which is also your average percentile. If another viewer ranks you last, you have beaten 0/9 of your opponents bring your average down to 7/18 or 38.89%. Viewers can also omit entries from their vote if they feel that there aren't any more satisfactory ones to include. In this situation, the omitted entries receive the average percentage of those not taken yet. For example, if four entries are omitted then they all get the average of 3/9, 2/9, 1/9 and 0/9, which is 3/18 or 16.66%. cary gets upset when you do this after many people have done this so all of the entries get voted on.
